Comedy on Film:  Time to Laugh

Screwball comedy, visual gags, slapstick, one-liners.  Let's give ourselves permission to laugh this autumn with our popular film series moderated by educator Victor Messick as we present a range of American comedy featuring classic films and selected film clips.

In 1890's Wyoming, Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid lead a band of outlaws. When a train robbery goes wrong, they find themselves on the run with a posse hard on their heels.  Stars Paul Newman, Robert Redford & Katherine Ross.   Considered by some to be the first buddy movie. Incorporates screwball elements of comedy but, matching the changing times in which it was released, also a bit more sophisticated in its comedic presentation with bits of hubris and drama. (110 min.)

A classic to end our series.
