Event Details

LIVING HISTORY: CAMP LIFE IN THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR
Soldiers in Washington’s Army spent nearly eight years of conflict facing off against the British and living in makeshift camps all over the country.

This FREE hands-on program — led by Joe Ryan, Founder and President of the Living History Education Foundation, and experienced BOCES-certified re-enactors — will highlight the tasks of ordinary camp life during the war. Participants will divide into platoons, lay out an encampment, put up an 18th-century tent, and drill with bang & flash muskets.

PLEASE NOTE there is LIMITED REGISTRATION for this event!  Registration begins March 20 at our website.  Children age 8+ and all adults welcome. This program isn't suitable for young children. This program will take place both indoors and outdoors, if weather permits.

This program is made possible through a generous grant from Hudson River Valley Greenway; and in coordination with Revolutionary Westchester 250, Westchester County, and the Westchester Library System.  It is designed to build awareness and appreciation for the Revolutionary War era in Westchester, in anticipation of the nation’s 250th anniversary of the American Revolution in 2026.
